Takes just a couple minutes and allows me to "oversee" the route to make sure it is what I want. I use LittleNavMap, and then just key in my route into my iPad. I never really became comfortable using FltPlan Go on my PC for flight planning. Of course, there are very few procedures in the sim that are still current today. All of this depends on multiple databases that may or may not coincide on all devices/sources. The route you fly will be shown on the client as you move along the map, but the route may diverge from the flight plan you create in FltPln Go once you load a procedure into the GTN. The actual procedure is flown by the GTN controlling the AP. FltPln Go gets its info from the sim thru Simconnect. The flight plan may change when you load a procedure. despite having my iPad right next to me it's still easier and safer to keep my focus on my computer monitor and receive the plate info from the GTN.ĥ. It all seems to work much better and faster that way. On a side note, I assign IP Addresses on my network for both the host device (flightsim computer) and the client device (phone, tablet pad, etc.). Once you've done one aircraft the rest are close to the same with config variations mostly focused on the avionics.ģ. On the upside, FltPLn Go will tell you when a config is incorrect and how to fix it. Indeed, it can be a pain setting up aircraft profiles. It sounds complicated but after a couple times through it you can can do it all in a minute or two.Ģ. Since I saved it on the FltPlan website - I can now open it on my tablet as well. Save the flight plan. I copy the routing info to my clipboard - and paste it into Little NavMap so I can generate it in P3D and Garmin formats for use in the sim. My normal flow - is create a flight plan on - then when the routing options appear - I choose a “Recently ATC Approved” route - if available - for an aircraft of a similar type. Then download the appropriate app to your tablet from your respective App Store. This program will need to be launched in order to work when you use it. Then download the connector program from the Fltplan site as well - it’s a small little program that facilitates the coms between PC and Tablet - basically transmits your GPS position from the sim over your WiFi. You don’t have to change your aircraft to match the sim - one will do. Might take you a few minutes to complete all the new federally mandated requirements on your aircraft to meet the new ICAO requirements - yep - lol - even to use it with a sim. ![]() You’ll need to define Pilot and Aircraft parameters. ![]() That said - I’ve been using it for years - where are you going astray ?įirst - I would create a free FltPlan account on their website. For example, Anders Andrén performs a comparative analysis of Norse and Bronze Age iconography in his 2014 book Tracing Old Norse Cosmology. Over the past twenty years several archaeologists have presented arguments suggesting key Norse religious elements-including symbolism and ritual practice-may have been shaped by enduring symbolic structures of the Bronze Age (e.g., Ahlqvist & Vandkilde, Citation2018 Andrén, Citation2014 Fredell, Citation2003, pp. Increasing academic attention is being directed towards the potential continuity which may exist between Bronze and Iron Age Scandinavian belief systems. Current arguments: Bronze and Iron age connections Before beginning, however, it is important to understand current views regarding possible continuity between Iron and Bronze Age Scandinavia.Ģ. Specifically, it seeks to underline the long-standing importance of the signalling of a warrior identity in Prehistoric Scandinavian communities. By examining the potential similarities and differences of these depictions, this paper aims to emphasize the endurance of Prehistoric Scandinavian symbolic structures. While there are similar depictions of possible weapon dancer imagery on figurines, for the sake of time this paper will focus on rock art. It then proceeds by analysing examples of similar-looking motifs found on Bronze Age rock art (1700 BC-200 AD) using three case studies. It first introduces weapon dancer iconography and its use during the Norse period (AD 400–800). ![]() Do they represent the same symbol?ĭefining “weapon dancer” imagery as Norse depictions of anthropomorphic figures wielding weaponry, posed in a dance-like stance, the following paper examines the possible use of this motif in both periods of prehistoric Scandinavia. For example, weapon dancer imagery-iconography commonly attributed to the Norse Scandinavian belief system-seems to have several correlations in Bronze Age rock art. Yet when examining the iconography linked to this Indo-European system and that of the Norse Iron Age, respectively, it becomes clear that there may be possible overlap. By examining different forms of material culture-including rock art and metalwork-and using allusions to texts such as the Vedic Rig Veda, the existence of a shared Bronze Age southern Scandinavian belief system with an Indo-European solar focus has come to be suggested by several scholars (e.g., Kaul, Citation2017 K. The past fifteen years have witnessed increasing efforts to study and understand Bronze Age Scandinavia (1700–500 BC). In doing so, it also emphasizes the endurance of Prehistoric Scandinavian symbolic structures overall. Could this represent a case of prehistoric continuity? By presenting and comparing the Iron and Bronze Age evidence, this paper suggests a possible continuity in representations of warrior rituals on figurative material, underlining the importance of advertising a warrior identity and mentality in Prehistoric Scandinavian communities. Several examples of Bronze Age rock art display scenes of weapon-bearing figures, performing ritualistic motions that some have interpreted as dancing. Yet certain symbols attributed to this Indo-European system seem to have striking parallels in later Norse religious iconography-symbols such as weapon dancer imagery. Different forms of material culture-including rock art and metalwork-and allusions to texts such as the Vedic Rig Veda, have led many to suggest the existence of a shared belief system with an Indo-European solar focus. The past fifteen years have witnessed increasing effort to study and understand the belief system of Bronze Age Scandinavia. Players who preorder the sequel for $59.99 or buy during the first week of release will receive the Norsca DLC completely free, both in the original Total War: Warhammer and the new game. At $8.99, that's not a bad deal.īut I said you could get the Norsca DLC for free, remember? Total War: Warhammer II is due out on Steam on September 28. What's more, buying this DLC will unlock access to the Norsca and Wintertooth in the upcoming Total War: Warhammer II as well. The Norsca DLC is a good value thanks to offering an interesting campaign with two races who dramatically differ from those of the base Total War: Warhammer game. Once you've gotten strong enough to dominate your neighbors, you'll be able to proceed south and lay siege to other races with your hordes of marauders and berserkers. So you're not at a disadvantage early on, and you can hack and slash your way to dominance of the cold lands. One mitigating factor is that all of the northern tribes you face off against in the Norsca campaign are also melee fighters. If you want to win with these northern warriors, you'll want to charge the enemy and close the distance as soon as possible. Their range is severely reduced, so they play a more supplementary roll for the Norsca and Wintertooth. This comes at a price, in that their ranged units just aren't as good as those of other races. Both sides excel in melee combat and sieges. While the Norsca and Wintertooth trolls look quite a lot different, they fight pretty similarly. Throgg's troll units get a resistance buff, and all of his troops receive immunity to negative terrain effects as well. But his unique ability, Copious Vomit, is much grosser! He can also construct a building called Troll Country. Like Wulrik, this imposing monster excels in melee combat and sieges. Throgg, also known as the King of Trolls, leads the Wintertooth faction. |
