Overseer's Guardian is also one of the best combat rifles you can get in the game, I just found the limb damage of the combat rifle more beneficial since it was my all-arounder. Also it's really funny to hit them with one or two shots while they're charging at you and see their Health Bar hit 0 and they just ragdoll before they get to you :)įor general/mid-range use I have a Violent Combat rifle with a short recon scope. I tried the Le Fusil Terribles but found that I was doing so much damage that things were dying before I could make use of the limb damage, and Justice but again found that I'd much rather just deal extra damage with Wounding rather than hope to Stagger my enemies. Late game you'll end up with a suppressed Gauss Rifle with a long range recon scope as your primary long range weapon.įor close range, I have a suppressed combat shotgun (quick eject large mag is all you need, not the drum mag) with the Wounding legendary effect. Instigating is the perk you want on your Sniper, but Two Shot is also really good. This is going to be your primary weapon until you can get your hands on a silenced, scoped Sniper rifle. Weapons of choice: pipe weapons, again, you can put a silencer on as soon as level 13. Then you want Deacon and MacCready I know this is a no VATS build but VATS can still be useful vs small, fast, and or numerous enemies like Ghouls, Mole Rats, and Insects. Next is Piper, whose bonus XP perk will really help you out. He's easy to get max affinity with since you can do his quests like immediately. I could go level by level, but I've found that a little too restrictive and ignores what might actually be occurring during a playthrough.Īs for companions, Preston Garvey is going to be your first one. This leaves you with a couple extra points to put in something like Cap Collector or Hacker, but ultimately it's up to you. You can have a scoped and silenced rifle as early as level 13 by investing in Gun Nut ranks 1 and 2 by then, but by about level 20 (this is when I got the strength, intelligence, and Charisma Bobbleheads so I was actually well over 20) you should have: Rifleman 3, Gun Nut 2, Locksmith 3, Sneak 3, Ninja 2, Mister Sandman 2, Quick Hands 1, and Scrounger 2. L2 (use the " You're S.P.E.C.I.A.L" book) for Scrounger. I5+Bobblehead makes it 6 to get Gun Nut, Scrapper, and ScienceĪ8 for Fast Hands (rank 1 is all you'll need for a no VATS build) S3 for Armorer and slightly better carry weight, though you'll be relying a lot on companions as well.Į3 - durable enough to not die immediately early on, but not a heavy investment.Ĭ5+Bobblehead makes it 6 to get Local Leader I literally just did a no VATS stealth sniper build.
